After discovering that women under 30 are the most progressive voters, but the least likely group to vote, a group of friends came together with one aim: to inspire young women to make their voice heard on June 8th.

Launching a week before the General Election '17 polls opened, #SHEvotes called for young women to talk about voting with their peers, and aimed to reach outside the political bubble with a positive and inclusive campaign all women could get behind.

We had less than two weeks to engage young women in the General Election, especially those outside the political bubble.

In just one week, #SHEvotes saw:

  • Over 5000 posts on Instagram and Twitter with the #SHEvotes hashtag and over 20,000 engagements on Facebook.

  • Over 100 pieces of original content created by artists, designers and creatives shared online.

  • Over 10 million people reached just on social alone.

  • Female celebrities including singers Marina and the Diamonds and Grace Chatto, TV personalities Billie Porter, Lydia-Rose Bright and Scarlett Moffatt, and models Daisy Lowe and Jasmine Guinness all got involved in #SHEvotes on social.

  • It also received support from campaigner Sarah Brown and MP Caroline Lucas. Brands including WAH Nails and Long Tall Sally shared content, alongside women’s lifestyle media including Cosmopolitan, Pretty 52 and Galdem.
